An unrighteous person is a person who has diverted from the right path and adopted a life based on rebellion against Allah. Therefore, an unrighteous person does not respect or pay heed to the boundries set by the Qur’an and cannot possess the traits of the believers such as justice, truth, honesty and strength of character. In addition, an unrighteous person is someone who does not have fear of Allah, who is jealous of believers’ faith, who wants to divert believers, if he could, and who strives to harm them. Thus, a report that reaches the believers from an unrighteous person is a matter that is inherently uncertain and must be explored more deeply in terms of truth. In one verse about this matter it is revealed as such:
“You who have faith! if a deviator brings you a report, scrutinize it carefully in case you attack people in ignorance and so come to greatly regret what you have done.” (Surat al-Hujurat, 6)
It would be ignorant behavior, as revealed by Allah, to pass judgment without trustworthy information and without exploring its truthfullness according to the Qur’an.
