Slovenian Prime Minister Bratusek: “Europe would not be as culturally rich without Islam”

Prime Minister Alenka Bratusek attended the ground-laying ceremony for the first mosque to be built in the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana. Speaking at the ceremony, Bratusek said the building would be a "symbolic victory against all forms of religious intolerance" and that Europe would not be as culturally rich without Islam.
Bratusek recalled that Muslims had been waiting for the mosque to be built for 40 years, and went on: “Today is a significant milestone for the Islamic Community in Slovenia and it is a great moment for all of Slovenia.” In her speech, she stressed that every religious belief had the right to its place for offering prayers.
As well as Prime Minister Bratusek, the ceremony was attended by former President of Slovenia Danilo Turk, Bosniak member of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency Bakir Izetbegovic, Qatar’s Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ghaith bin Mubarak al-Kuwari, Mufti of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina Hussein Kavazovic, Slovenian Mufti Nedzad Grabus and Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Jankovic, and 10,000 members of the public. Former President Turk expressed his pleasure at the presence of large numbers of Muslims coming together at the ground-laying ceremony.
