Excerpt from Mr. Adnan Oktar's Live Conversation on A9 TV dated December 15th, 2011
Ms. DILEM: Our Master Mehmet Sevket Eygi has written an article. He says that there will be no glory and salvation for Muslims unless Muslims do not adopt the morality of Islam, the Qur'an, the Prophet (saas) and the morality of the genuine Muslims who lived in all centuries."
ADNAN OKTAR: Masha'Allah. Our Master is very sincere and a pure Muslim. The thought of our Master is about the essence. I mean Master Mehmet Sevket Eygi has the idea that there should be art, science, aesthetics in Islam and quality in Muslims. And he always says; "let Muslims have high quality, Muslims should have high quality, Muslims should have high quality." They should lead a quality life and be impressive. That is what he talks about insha'Allah.
What he means by luxury; are the things that are arbitrary, that do not aim to serve Islam. Or else if you establish a luxurious TV channel that aims to serve Islam that would of course be very nice; a high quality television channel. For instance, if you have a high quality car, a high quality vehicle to serve Islam, if you have a strong and healthy appearance; that would be nice as well. Our Master would not want a spoilt, looser system. That is because the concept of luxury is somewhat different. It is sometimes hard to understand what luxury is; stressing on that would be important. For instance the Prophet Solomon (pbuh) lives inside a palace. He had built a palace for himself. Is this luxury? No. Because that is with the intention to serve Islam. It is something that stresses the glory of Islam, the Power of Allah; that is something aiming to show the blessings of Allah. What does he say anyway? "O Lord! The reason for my wishes, my request for goods is to gain Your approval. I have a liking about these goods and glory for gaining Your good pleasure." There will also be an amazing glory and an amazing sultanate at the time of the Mahdi, there will be an amazing beauty. That intends to display the Power of Allah; that intends to show the blessings bestowed by Allah. There is the hadith of our Prophet (saas) stating that "Allah likes to see the blessings He bestows on His servants." So [they need to be] beautiful, well-kept and pleasant.
But how would something be extravagant? If you buy a dress that you would not wear, that would be extravagant. You purchase something made from the same material, with the same specifications but one of them is very very expensive and the other one is the same but cheap. If you buy that expensive one on purpose, that would be extravagant, that would be squandering. That would then be luxurious, an extravagant luxury. Or else our Master defends high quality luxury anyway. Our Master defends the idea of high quality. One needs to make the distinction in between, insha'Allah.
Ms. BERIL: Master, you would know much better insha'Allah. Allah says in the verse, I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed satan; ".. wear fine clothing in every mosque." Mosques are the places to preach religion anyway.
ADNAN OKTAR: Of course. For instance look fine clothing is a luxurious thing as well. But that intends to show the blessings of Allah. To display the blessings of Allah, to show people those blessings and to be joyous about them, that intends to be thankful about them. That is why Muslims would of course be wearing beautiful, well adorned, well-kept clothing. They will be precious if it needs to be precious. But they will not be extravagant insha'Allah. Or else it might also be possible to live in a house at a basement floor saying that you are avoiding extravagancy; it is also possible to live in a comfortable house that is under the sunlight. If you have the possibility living in a comfortable, wide home under the sunlight would be much more beautiful for a Muslim. Consequently that would not be luxurious and extravagant. That is a necessity insha'Allah. For instance the Prophet Solomon (pbuh) likes horses, he buys horses and look at their beauty. Is that luxurious, is that extravagancy? No it is not. That is seeing the blessings of Allah. That is displaying the blessings of Allah. That is making the blessings of Allah liked, it intends to increase people's love for Allah by showing the Might of Allah. For instance the Prophet Solomon (pbuh) has palaces built for him, he has pools built, right? Djinns are under his command, he forms an amazing glory. Is that extravagancy? No it is not. That is just an instrument to show the artistry of Allah, to show the beauty of Allah. It is important to know the difference in between these two, insha'Allah.
