The crow, one of those animals that displays an unexpectedly successful planning ability, also exhibits proofs of creation.
Allah inspires the behavior of the crow called Betty we are watching in this film. Allah, Who created the crow and gave it its wings, eyes and all its other features, also bestowed this ability on it. The flawless design and infinite balance and harmony in the universe are also the work of Almighty Allah. Another striking aspect of this is a reference in the Qur’an to Allah’s inspiring a crow. This appears in the story of the sons of the Prophet Adem.
One of his sons grew proud and jealous because of his earthly desires. He even killed his brother for that reason. Allah taught him a lesson by inspiring a crow. This is described as followed in the verses: Then Allah sent a crow which scratched at the earth to show him how to conceal his brother’s corpse. He said, ‘Woe is me! Can I not even be like this crow and conceal my brother’s corpse?’ And he became one of those who suffer bitter remorse. (Surat al-Ma’ida, 31-32)
That is the secret behind the absolutely astonishing behavior we see in the natural world. Science sometimes refers to this behavior as ‘instinct,’ and though that may look like an explanation, it is really nothing of the sort. It is merely a name. The answer of where instinct comes from always goes unanswered. In some examples (as in that of Betty the crow) it is impossible to refer to the intelligent behavior of animals as instinct at all. These things are in fact all proofs showing Allah’s sovereignty over the living world. " It is Allah Who created the seven heavens and of the Earth the same number, the Command descending down through all of them, so that you might know that Allah has power over all things and that Allah encompasses all things in His knowledge."
