Profound faith, that is the greatest blessing. Submission to Allah and profound faith.. That is because Allah tests people with many things. Some people squirm in these tests from time to time. That is a grave mistake. Good opinion of and love for Allah should never be given up. Allah should never be opened to discussion. A Muslim devotes himself to Allah with such a profound love that he never ever gives up his good opinion and love for Allah, not even momentarily.
Everyone can feel distressed at times. This is how it is in this World as a part of the trial. Drinking lukewarm water, not leaving the body dehydrated, not leaving one's self sleepless, moving a little. But the most important and above all else being in love with Allah, completely submitting to Allah and leaving one's self to Allah and knowing that reasons can never be a basis [ can be the cure for to overcome that distress.]
We are going to be tested. For instance while you are going on cheerfully all of a sudden you can have a sore back. For instance just when you thought that you’ve passed your class, you may fail. You can get into trouble all of a sudden. Everything can happen. You should put your trust in Allah. This is not a fairground, this is not a play ground. That is a testing environment, you are in a hall of trial. You will be asked questions and you will answer them successfully one after the other by the leave of Allah. You will give right answers. You will try not to give them wrong answers. And thus you would be trained.
One needs to look and admire the rich details in God's creating. Then the love one feels for God would increase even further. When love increases so does the fear of God. When fear of God increases, so does your submission to God. When your submission to God increases, it would be as if your nerves are taken. Your mind would be at ease and you would be very much relieved. You would feel a sense of relief, a sense of contentment and ease insha'Allah.
One should put his trust in God. If you do not put your trust in God everything would give you pain, you would be bored of everything. Everything would make you afraid, everything would overwhelm you. All the incidents in the world would seem to come at you. As the verse of the Qur’an refers, God makes such people’s breasts narrow and constricted as if they were climbing up into the sky. One should submit to God for his heart to be at ease.
One would be happy and have his mind relieved when he performs his prayers, when he performs ablution, when he submits to God’s will, mentions the Name of God, reads the Qur’an. God has created man in a way that he would feel that need. One would be suffocated if he doesn’t live all these beauties. These are all blessings that prevent one to be drawn in that water, these are lifesaving blessings.
One’s connection to God should never be severed. If one severs his connection to God, he would lose his trust and submission to God. Once that happens, he would become very tense, angry and uneasy. Submission to God is one of the greatest blessings on Earth that should never be forgotten, even for a second.
One should improve himself even further, increase his knowledge, memorize the Qur’an. One should try and put every verse of the Qur’an into practice, enforce his patience, strengthen his will-power, strengthen his faith. One should widen and strengthen his submission to God and root the love of this world out of his heart. One should not be affected by the ignorant ones who forget about God.
Emotionality is like a different religion, a different faith: That is because such a person struggles with his demons, keeps away from God, loses his trust in God. He would cry and become sad, he cannot set himself free from these scourges. Otherwise he would set his heart on God. For instance, something seemingly bad happens and he says “There is surely goodness in this.” Would someone like that deceiving himself? No, he would be speaking the truth. There really is goodness in everything.
Sometimes God gives a rank to some people, gives them power, gives them means. You would not be a person of guidance if you say, "Why did God give him such a rank? Why did He give that person that easiness?" A person who -May God forbid - questions God would not be a person of guidance. One should say, "There is a goodness, a benevolence behind this. God knows but I don't."
Blessings will increase if one is grateful. What does being grateful mean? It means abiding by the Qur'an, submitting to God and being pleased with what God gives. The man is not pleased with God and is constantly complaining. He believes – may God forbid - that God has treated him unjustly. How could there be blessings, if this is the case? Of course, such a person is not given blessings.
One grovels when he doesn't know about destiny; he suffers. But if you are aware of destiny, God gives plentitude and bestows blessings upon you. Troubles you endure become your religious services. That is because submitting one's self to God in every moment of life is like performing prayers in every moment of life.
The thing you want might be bad for you but you would not know. You persistently want it to happen but actually that might be bad for you. There is goodness in it if God does not grant you your wish. Some people freak out when they are not given what they ask for. It may be that it will bring you troubles if you are given what you have asked for, and God is protecting you by not giving it to you.
If Muslims use their minds correctly, if they put their trust in God and love God as is due, there would be no fear and sadness for them. They would never feel fear. They would never feel any distress. But that is on the condition that they love God as He wants to be loved, that they put their trust in God as He wants them to do.
One says ,"When I make a mistake, my good conscience disturbs me, it makes me unable to breath." That stems from letting Satan suffocate you. Why is there the need for that, my brother? You simply put your trust in God and that is it, you repent to God. What does repentance mean? You hope God will accept your repentance. Then, what does being suffocated mean? That would mean that you do not trust God. If you've made a mistake, you've made the mistake in your destiny. Did you decide to never to do it again? You did. If you are determined about this, that takes care of it.
God tells us that there will be ordeals and pain in the world. Submit yourself to God as you should and see if you would suffer. God knows pain but He doesn't experience pain. People will know pain but they would not experience that pain if they submit themselves completely to God. One needs to find that secret, that secret of complete submission.
The moment trouble comes onto someone is very valuable. That is a beautiful moment of trial. Muslims should not let that opportunity pass by and they should say, "O my Lord, I come from You and I will return to You. I am Yours, You are the One Who creates everything. The trouble that came on to me is ready in Your Sight before it ever happened to me. I am ready for every type of trial You will give me. I am truly in need of any good You have in store for me. Bestow upon me the honor of living through this trial in beauty." Those around him should also be congratulating him for that trial. It is not right to dither.
God tells us to put our trust in Him and to submit to Him. Trust in God would only be attained with concentration, with faith and determination; it doesn't happen out of the blue. It's not like one can say, "I am a Muslim so I should be given that trust in God." One needs to strive and work for it; only then God gives that feeling to him.
What one would be doing in his lifetime is already defined in his destiny. What will happen is already preordained in destiny but he worries nevertheless, yet God has created everything in the best way possible. What is the sense of this worry? I mean there is no logic behind it and there is no rational explanation for that worry. That is because everything has already happened anyway. You are worrying in vain. Almighty God has created the best in everything.
The best attitude that can be adopted against egocentricity and haughtiness is to be submissive towards God, to put trust in God, to be patient and humble and to avoid being egocentric. The shortest remedy to that in the Qur'an is self-criticism. One should criticize himself both while he is alone and while he is in the company of others.
God has given very nice secrets that would keep one's mind sane. Before all else, one's commitment to God would keep away all immorality, all abnormality. Putting one's trust in God would take away the torment one does to himself. When he becomes patient, he would become friends with everyone around. When one is loyal, he would attain a personality everyone would love. When one criticizes himself, he keeps his sanity intact. When one is criticized by others, he becomes a rational, stable and loveable person.
On account of their trust in God, Muslims are joyful in their lives. They are joyous when they are struggling for the sake of God or when they are martyred. They never lose their inner sense of happiness, joyfulness. However, those who are faint of faith becomes paralyzed; they feel at a loss, they panic, they cry and lead their lives in a state of unhappiness and fear.
